He drifted across worlds of pretentious colour, each never what it seemed. Shapes and forms passed him, amorphous yet empty.

Despite being surrounded, he was very much alone.

It was, after all, the lonesome weariness of the human heart which he could not assuage.

I rarely post here now, I usually just shift it to my Tumblr, where my batshit craziness takes full force.

I woke up hours before I was supposed to, because the cleaner hosing the corridors seemed to neglect the fact that there was a guy sleeping in his living room. Yes, I live in my living room (ha). It’s raining; you are hosing the corridors. Oddity.

My HTC Magic drowned earlier on, weeks ago (or as the CSO called it, liquid damage). It was one of my dumbest mistakes ever, to bring it with me when I was showering (utter gross negligence and stupidity, I know).

So I attempted to dry it out, and turned it on. Sadly, it did not boot, only emitting a constant, dead blue LED. No boot screen. No Cyanogen Mod boot, recovery didn’t work either. So, with a heavy heart I thought I was bummed. Alwin passed me a replacement phone so I was contactable (had 3G lol).

Took my poor beloved phone down to HTC’s service centre down at 1, HarbourFront Ave, #01-06 Keppel Bay Tower. The CSO was honest with me, I credit her for that. Explained to me that liquid damage voided my warranty. Checking alone would incur a fee of $30 something. I asked for an approximate service charge if the motherboard was damaged, and she gave an estimate of $400. She also mentioned the total time for the quotation and the servicing would take 6 working days. So, sadly, I thanked her and walked away from the service centre. I did remember heaving a very audible sigh.

I made my way home, frowning slightly (especially when my mp3′s battery died). I walked past the DIY shop. Then I thought, hey, since my warranty is void, why don’t I just get the little tools and see if I can work something out. So I bought the hex key set, $8.

Went home, got out the little tool (and my trusty little screwdriver set) and carefully took it apart:

I discovered a slight bit of grime near the trackball area where the water entered (also, all the moisture detection stickers are red). Wiped the offending dirt away and put back all the little screws. I hoped for the best, then I prodded the power button. It booted. So now it’s alive. Today my shoes broke. Not a hole. Not a little slit. It came out in halves. Perfect timing, right when I was reaching home.

Picture has been desaturated to not show the horrible stains, colours and dirt accumulated over the three years these faithful little shoes have served me. Don’t mind the floor, it’s HDB renovation, some sorta cover.

And here the replacement ones. For the record, I hate buying shoes. Or most clothing anyway. I am generally frugal when it comes to clothing. A shirt is simply a shirt to me. Simply conforming to the social norm of being clothed. I wonder how long will these last me.

And yes, I should have better things to do than to post footwear. Sleep time.

Did test a couple of gadgets, like the iframe embedding, the map gadget, the yes/no/maybe vote gadget, sudoku. Will come in handy for collaboration. Or, more mindless childishness.
